AWAKENING.
A total of 881, 416 candidates sat for KCSE in 2022. On 23rd January 2023 the education cabinet secretary Ezekiel Machogu announced the results. 173, 345 candidates scored C+ and above. This means 708,071 candidates scored less than the minimum entry to university. Many find it hard to cope with the reality and thus losing focus in which ways they should follow in regards to career choice. About sixty (60) secondary schools in Machakos county registered a total of 35, 041 candidates for the exam that year. It is with this reason that Scott Christian University public relations and marketing department prepared an Ex- Candidates Bruch to help them map their career destinies. The half-day event took place on 11th February 2023 at the Scott Christian University Retreat and Conference center.
Ms. Okeyo Linda, a lecturer in the school of professional studies took the students through the different courses. She mentioned Scott Christian University has three schools, School of professional studies, School of education and the school of Theology. Mr. Dennis Muendo, also a lecturer in the Information and Technology department, poured some light on the importance of tech and the need to have computer literacy as students.
In her speech, Ms. Okeyo emphasized that for students to pursue careers, they must understand what they are good at. She farther noted that Scott does not only shape the career lives of students but also builds the entire character of students. “So, we do not only build your knowledge aspect but we also ensure that we build your entire character” she said. Many students expressed their interests to join Scott Christian University after the candid talk. “It was such a lovely session we enjoyed and learnt a lot; we were taught about careers and many other things” one of the students said.
In the one-on-one interaction with the students, many realized that Scott Christian University does not only offer spaces for career development but also in nurtures and prepares young competent leaders. Zedy Tyson, the finance secretary of the Scott Christian University Students Association encouraged the participants to join Scott and employ their leadership skills.
At Scott Christian University there are three intakes in a year, that is January, May and September. The May intake is ongoing and all the candidates are encouraged to apply to have this wonderful experience of building leadership, challenging minds and growing faith.
