Bachelor of Education (Arts) Profile
The Bachelor of Education (Arts) Programme is designed to prepare teachers and Educators within the teacher training prescriptions of the Ministry of Education and the Secondary School system in Kenya. The BEd programme is run on an integrated basis where the professional and academic contents are offered as determined by the Teacher Service Commission (TSC) and the Commission for University Education (CUE). The Bachelor of Education (Arts) curriculum includes Foundation Courses in Education which are taken by all education students. Students are expected to choose two teaching subjects that are offered in the Program. These subjects must correspond to the curriculum offered in Secondary Schools and other equivalent institutions in Kenya’s Education system. Course Structure and Duration
The Bachelor of Education (Arts) programme (BEd Arts) takes a period of four academic years. Each year consists of two semesters of seventeen (15) weeks each. In addition, the students shall take twelve (12) weeks of Teaching Practice in approved secondary school. During Teaching Practice, the students shall be assessed twice in line with Ministry of Education requirements.

The Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education prepares the student to possess skills that enable children to explore and discover as a way of learning by becoming highly engaged and actively involved in their interdependence between people, plants, animals and the environment.
